Dear Friends:
We celebrate our second Thanksgiving with the pandemic still a source of concern. We continue to mourn the loss of our loved ones and colleagues this awful virus has taken from us or made ill. But this Thanksgiving we have a weapon to fight the virus back. The vaccination process has been a proven virus fighter. We can be very thankful for the scientific progress that enabled the development of the effective vaccines. Because of the strong vaccine programs implemented in many of our port communities, the ILA has been able to continue playing a vital role in maintaining the worldwide supply chain. We are thankful. Our cruise ports are slowly returning to a pre-pandemic level of service. We are thankful. President Biden has signed legislation that will provide necessary funding for our ports’ infrastructure projects allowing us to stay competitive. We are thankful. We are thankful for our employer partners that have negotiated agreements which allow us to enjoy our high standard of living and top-quality healthcare. We are humbled by our bounty in the face of distress endured by so many. Let us pause, as we give thanks and pray for good health and a prosperous industry.
