January 14, 2022

To my ILA membership and their families:

Our nation in 2022 is more in need of the vision and the hope expressed by Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout his life in his words and deeds, than any time in its history.

As we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., this weekend leading up to Monday’s 2022 holiday, we call on all Americans to revisit and remember the mission and message of this holy Civil Rights Leader.

America’s most noble and defining characteristics of “freedom and equality for all” are being challenged as never before as we celebrate Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 17, 2022. The ILA has come out loud and strong, in action and protest, against those who would suppress our rights to vote, or those who would promote restrictive mandates on our free society. These are both examples of one segment of our population trying to suppress another. The ILA, through its effective and energetic Civil Rights Committee, will champion legislation like the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to protect and expand voting in America. Our ILA will continue to provide our membership with the highest quality health care plans, and fight for their rights to make individual choices about the treatment they receive for themselves and their families.

In the spirit and memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the ILA will recommit ourselves to helping America find its way; where senseless racially motivating killings are no more; where our elected officials work “for (all) the people” and not with heavy handedness or with prejudice; and where love and tolerance of all our fellow citizens is protected and cherished.

I ask all my ILA members to join me in this noble sacred task.

Respectfully,

Harold J. Daggett
President
