ILA Civil Rights Committee To Honor Three Of Its Own at 2019 Dinner in Newark

ORTH BERGEN, NJ – (October 22, 2019) The International Longshoremen’s Association Civil Rights Committee will honor John D. Baker, ILA General Organizer; Gerald Owens, ILA Civil Rights Committee Chairman; and Mary Gima, ILA Executive Assistant (retired) and a member of the ILA’s Civil Rights Committee. Vincent Marino from Marine Repair Service Container Maintenance will also be honored at this dinner with the Humanitarian Award.

The annual dinner will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel, 1000 Spring Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey with the reception beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner and presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Gerald Owens, who has led the ILA’s Civil Rights Committee for more than a decade will receive the Martin Luther King Award. John D. Baker will receive the Humanitarian Award and Mary Gima is to receive the Women’s Rights Award.

ILA President Harold Daggett; South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District President Alan Robb and ILA Assistant General Organizer James Paylor will offer remarks at the dinner.
