HOUSTON, TX – ILA Local 24 – Deep Sea (June 2, 2020) began drive-thru testing for all workers at their union hall. President Gabriel Garza and Local 24 are taking action by testing workers of the local to ensure safety of all and those around them. Everyone was encouraged to get tested and Local 24 will continue testing throughout the week.
The testing would not have been possible without the cooperation between the Local’s leadership and the Founder/CEO Tona Trondsen of Workplace Safety Screenings and her staff to coordinate and administer the COVID-19 testing.
These tests screen for IGG (antibodies developed in the past) and IGM (antibodies currently developing). These test are a finger-prick test and results are within 15 minutes. It is important to note that the these test are not 100% accurate and that you could get COVID-19 after the test has been administered. If someone has a presumptive positive result they are directed to get a lab based test, and self quarantine. During the testing it was imperative that everyone was reminded to maintain social distancing (at least 6 feet apart) and wear their mask.
