Dear Friends:
January 20, 2025, is an extraordinary day in our Nation’s history. We celebrate the birthday of The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and our Nation inaugurates the 47th President of the United States of America. We in the ILA must be especially appreciative this year. Our District understands and appreciates the legacy of MLK beyond words. And this year, as we celebrate a new master contract, based on the significant role of the incoming President, his inauguration has special meaning to us in the ILA. So, as we recall Reverend King’s last mission on behalf of the Memphis sanitation workers in 1968, and their solidarity, we applaud our solidarity within the ILA. We keep moving toward a dream. We continue to recite: “We shall overcome!” Reverend King had a dream-it is our responsibility to work toward achieving that dream!
