Dear Friends:
Memorial Day 2024 allows us to honor and remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice fighting to preserve our freedom and democratic life. This Memorial Day we hear calls for “retribution” from some politicians. There are those that oppose our support of Ukraine in their battle against the Russian dictator’s aggression. Surprisingly, many Americans still dispute the legitimacy of the 2020 election on the eve of another Presidential election. Those political forces disrespect our fallen heroes. Because those negative forces are stronger than ever, it is incumbent on us that we refute their lies and distortions at every opportunity. We cannot allow the undemocratic agitators to overrule and out maneuver those of us believing those who died for our Country did not do so in vain. We remember on this Memorial Day that our democracy is fragile. We must work hard to preserve it.
I am so honored to be the President of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District. I thank you, brothers and sisters of the ILA, for all you do as we join together this Memorial Day 2024 honoring the past, but continuing to strive for a more hopeful, peaceful and safe time ahead.
