ILA’s South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District 92nd Convention Concludes Successful Four-Day Meetings With Re-Election of Entire Slate of Executive Officers; International President Harold Daggett Praises District For Contributing to Union’s Success As “A Force To Be Reckoned With”

Coronado Island, California – (July 28, 2022). Alan Robb and his entire Executive Officers were unanimously re-elected to new four-years terms on the final day of the 92nd Convention of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District held this week at the Del Coronado Hotel in Southern California. Hundreds of cheering delegates applauded mightily as International President Harold J. Daggett officially swore-in the top six Executive District Officers and 20 District Vice President.

District President Robb declared the four-day convention an overwhelming success after delegates completed a busy week of union business, including adoption of resolutions and hearing speeches from leading ILA, management, and port authority executives. ILA members were praised repeatedly by speakers and in special videos for the contributions they made during the past two-and-half years keeping commerce moving throughout the world-wide Covid pandemic.

“ILA members saved our nation’s economy,” was expressed in remarks by International President Harold Daggett, United States Maritime Alliance Chair Dave Adam, and many leaders from Port Authorities in South Atlantic and Gulf ports. The ILA paid tribute to the scores of members whose lives were taken by the Coronavirus.

Delegates and family enjoyed a healthy measure of social activities throughout the week, included lunches and dinners; trips to the nearby San Diego Zoo and a wonderful Beach Party.

ILA Delegates were energized by powerful speeches throughout the week. They were urged to take the messages from this week’s convention back to their home port areas. Both ILA President Harold Daggett and USMX Chair Dave Adam told ILA delegates that negotiations on a new or extended Master Contract could begin soon.

Election of officers dominated the fourth and final day of the convention. Alan Robb was reelected District President along with District Secretary-Treasurer Bill Williams; Assistant Secretary-Treasurer Wilbert Rowell; Executive Vice President Willie Seymore; President Emeritus Clyde Fitzgerald and Executive Vice President Charles Spencer.

The ten South Atlantic Executive Council Members elected as Vice President included Leonard Bailey, Charleston; Charles Brave, Charleston; Benjamin Bryan, Savannah; Luis Gonzalez, Miami; Torin Ragin, Miami; Kenneth Riley, Charleston; Jackie Robinson, Savannah; Charles Seaton, Wilmington; Daniel Teague, Jacksonville and Gregory Washington, Wilmington, NC.

Gulf area Executive Board members elected as Vice President were Tim Harris, Houston; Mark Bridges, Beaumont; Charles Lewis, Houston; Gabriel Garza, Houston; Darius Johnson, Gulfport; Mark Bass, Mobile; James Campbell, New Orleans; Dwayne Boudreau, New Orleans; Rodney Priestly, Galveston and Gilbert Arreazola, Galveston.
